IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT CLASSES and CROPS:

·         Classes and crop fees MUST be prepaid. Please read the rules – which includes information about our cancellation policy. You can sign up and pay by calling us at (858) 679-9100 or stopping in the store. (sorry, you cannot register online)

·         When attending a class please always bring your basic kit of supplies. At minimum, this should include: adhesive (wet & dry), a pencil, a black pen, a ruler, scissors and a personal trimmer. Plus check your class list below for any additional items that you should bring with you.

Silhouette 101: A Beginner’s Class – with Dayle

10am-Noon

$20

¨      Location: Our Crop Room! (just a few doors down)

¨      The first of two classes about the Silhouette electronic die cutting machine.

¨      Beginner Silhouette class.  We will learn basic cutting and editing techniques using the Silhouette Studio software. 

¨      In this class, you will learn:

·         the mechanics of the Silhouette electronic die cutting machine; (tools, hardware parts, cutting media, etc.)

·         how to organize files using the Library;

·         about the Silhouette America website;

·         how to create basic shapes for cutting;

·         how to design and cut words;

·         how to weld words and shapes; and

·         basic editing techniques

·         (resize, moving points, redesign pre-made shapes, etc.)

¨      You will receive a cd with a detailed tutorial of the class and sample Silhouette files, and a class outline for notes.

 

Please bring a pen for notes, your questions and an open mind! (Please, do NOT bring your Silhouette or Cameo with you)

Silhouette 201: More Advanced Silhouette Skills – with Dayle

1pm-4pm

$30

¨      Location: Our Crop Room! (just a few doors down)

¨      The second of two classes about the Silhouette electronic die cutting machine.

¨      Requires attendance of Silhouette 101, or is familiar with basic cutting and editing techniques (i.e., you must be able to cut files on various media, edit files for size and move objects in the software, know basic care and use of the machine, etc.). 

¨      In this class, you will learn to:

·         create shadow mats;

·         auto-trace uploaded clip art (detail editing);

·         print and cut;

·         use with special materials (Vinyl, Fabric, Stencils, etc);

·         use the pen tool to draw with the Silhouette; and

·         using rhinestone

·         There will be a project provided.

¨      You will receive materials to create the card, a cd with a detailed tutorial of the class and sample Silhouette files, and a class outline for notes.

Saturday, February 11th

Copic Techniques” Class (aka Copic 101)
with Jennie Black

¨      10am-1pm

¨      $35

¨      Minimum: 10

¨      In this 3 hour educational hands on class each guest will receive a workbook designed special for this class.  Jennie will teach you everything you need to know to get you started in the world of Copic.  Including but not limited to the following:  

·         What paper and ink to use with Copics

·         The difference between the styles of Copics

·         The difference between waterbased and alcohol based markers

·         How to select colors that blend well together (number system)

·         How to color a smooth image that is not blotchy or streaky.

·         How to feather blend two or more colors together

·         How to do tip to tip and palette blending

·         How to correct with the blending pen

·         How to make textures and fun things with the blender pen

·         and soooo much more.  We will even get to play with the Copic Airbrush System.

No finished cards will be made in class, however you will leave with your workbook, color wheel, and brochures that can be used as future reference, as well as additional images to continue practicing at home!  

 

After class, you’ll have Jennie’s assistance in selecting the colors that best compliment the colors you already own, plus provide suggestions for additional colors you are missing in your collection.

 

Jennie has been teaching the Copic Certification classes on the west coast for over a year and a half and is an expert on Copic Markers.

 

Please bring the following markers to class or reserve a set to rent for only $5.00 (cash direct to the teacher).

¨      B0000 or B000

¨      Blender Pen

 

any two (or more) of the following combinations:

¨      BV000, BV02, BV04

¨      R81, R83, R85

¨      R22, R24, R27, (red is a bit harder to use)

¨      B000 or B0000, B01, B02

A Copic Card Class with Jennie Black

¨      Sample is at the store.

Create 3 beautiful cards using Penny Black stamps and Copic Blending techniques.

 

If there is enough time, you will make a bonus 4th card!

 

Jennie has been teaching the Copic Certification classes on the west coast for over a year and a half and is an expert on Copic Markers.

 

WHAT TO BRING:

¨      Your standard card making tools, adhesive and markers.

¨      Your Copic Markers. Suggested colors are:

o       B91, B93 or any blue combo for overalls

¨      Almost monthly, she will be doing a Lasting Impressions Dry Embossing Template card class

¨      Something different this time girls! These beautiful cards are made with Lasting Impressions templates and the Sizzix machine! So if you like embossed cards but don't like the thought of all that work then this is the class for you! Dry Embossing is a simple and very impressive craft that you will love! Also gain great ideas, tips and tricks that will help create cards, bookmarks, scrapbook pages, picture frames, gift tags, and more.

¨      Note: Suzie will not have classes in January, May or August of 2012.

¨      Club meets the 3rd Wednesday of each month from 6:30-8:30pm.

¨      There is an optional book that you can purchase that will be our inspiration for crafting for that cycle.

¨      Each meeting you will get a kit based on something from the book and you can take it home and create something with it. The following month you will bring your project for everyone to ooh! and ahh! over.

¨      We will also do a fun make-and-take

¨      We will chat about all the fun things going on in the crafting world

¨      Special guest speaker(s) every cycle

¨      One free Crop per series for Scrapbook Club members only.

¨      Discount on purchases made that night

The fee is $65 for a 3 month cycle. If you can’t make it to a meeting, your kit will be waiting for you at the store so you can join in the fun the next month! You are obligated to purchase all three classes that are in a cycle. If you do not pre-pay for all 3 at the first meeting for $65, your card number will be kept on file and will be automatically charged for the other two classes in that cycle at $24 each – regardless of attendance.

 

Class will be held in our GIANT crop spot. Maximum is 40.

Farmhouse Recipe Book with Jennifer Priest

Create a handmade, apron-shaped mini album with Crate Paper's adorable Farmhouse paper collection and the Bind It All machine. We'll layer stickers, use vintage ephemera, and adorable buttons to set the warm, country tone in this album. Use it as a scrapbook or to hold recipes--the cover flips to the back to create an easel to stand the book up.
